2001 Club Meeting Minutes President Chris Johnson called the meeting to order at about 8:15 PM. There were 26 members and one guest in attendance. Newsletter; Gene Riggs’ address was verified as correct. He feels the delivery problems are solved. He did get the June letter. Tours and Events, Margaret Petersen: Bud Melby’s garage requested our tour take place on June 9th, not the 2nd. Flyers are available. The plan is to meet at Bowen Scarff at 10:00 am and caravan 20 miles to the garage. The tour will start at 10:30 AM. Members who will get to the garage by themselves may get driving instructions from Margaret. Margaret is planning a trip to Mt St Helens rather than Yakima and the Yakima Pony’s in the Sun. Members can contact Margaret if interested. There was a discussion about the SOVERN SIR race. Membership:
We have one guest in attendance, Everett Riggs a guest of Gene’s. Technical: The detailing clinic was held at Hallberg’s. We successfully rebuilt the carb. Follow on projects for clinics: Laura is buying a wiring kit for her mustang and we need to paint Linda’s hood. Bowen Scarff Show, Mark Palmore brought us up to data on show planning. The web site for registration, listed on the flyer, is now working. Plans for shirts, goody bags, (He needs help filling these from us), plaques, etc is going well. We will use a computer for vote counting judging. He is still looking for volunteers to help with the day of the show. Mark still has great discounts on parts for Mustangs and Fords. A list of parts was available at the meeting. Linda Hallberg still has Mustang Blankets for sale. They are real nice blankest, cost $71.50. A reminder, the July meeting will be held at Big Daddy’s in Auburn. See the newsletter for details. New Business: Gary Hallberg announced there is a Turn Worker Training Class available. It’s July 21st. Call Gary for information and a form. Lunch is provided. Tips Of The
Month SURFING THE NET? Check this out. One of my favorite Internet sites is www.compuserve.com/carclub/ I have found many interesting stories, technical information and terrific photos at this site. This month the stories include “Replace Your Older Car’s Engine-Is it a Good Idea?”, “The Oil Change Explained”, Fix Minor Paint Chips Yourself”. There is a section containing car photos, Auto News, Talk Cars, NASCAR, Car Clubs, New Trucks, Used Cars, Auto Shows and much more. TICKETS From Above A total of 40 states have enacted laws permitting the use of aircraft to monitor and enforce speed limit laws. The use of airborne surveillance is a growing phenomenon. Imagine the cost to fly the planes or helicopters, the maintenance, upkeep and fuel, wages etc. Next time you see lines drawn on the roadway to measure distance you can be assured THEY are watching. How to Deal When A Teen Takes The Wheel Set up some ground rules. Have your teen pay at least park of the insurance. Ask your teen to sign a “vehicle use and operation agreement with you”. Traffic crashes are the number one killer of young people, accounting for 35 percent of the deaths. Club

I feel sorry for everyone who didn't make this trip, for you missed a great experience hosted by two wonderful historians. When we arrived, we were greeted by beautiful rolling lawns hosting several, well kept, classic as well as new cars. The included a Cord, a Pierce Aero, a 70’s Pontiac Concept car, a Buick Rivera, 2 Custom Bodied Corvettes, and many more, In the middle of the lawn rests a little clear lake, with adult and baby geese gliding about. Below these geese swims thousand of full size rainbow trout.
A 19__? LaFrance was parked in the driveway. This is a 12-cylinder dirigible engine, very long, black convertible. Some of our members got an exhilarating ride with Bud at the wheel. OK, on into the museum, we were greeted by Bud's lovely wife, Marilyn with cookies and coffee. Inside, you can roam around and look at whatever you wish. Bud is happy to answer questions as well as let you play with some of his collection. This collection is way too extensive to name everything, but a few items included: 1912 Indian Motor Cycle, Many automobile engines varying from early V8’s to concept engines. A Jaguar Engine holds up his snake table with 300 miles on it. Old watches, tricycles, pedal cars, guns, rifles, photo's, machines of various sorts, a piano that had it's own drum kit, display cases filled with gadgets, odds and ends and whatnots. Bud even has a handgun once owed by Elvis. After spending a great deal of time inside, we wandered out to feed the fish, as well as snoop through two other garages. In one garage was an old racecar, that Bruce and Gary Dagan took turns getting stuck in the drivers seat. Bruce was particularly impressed by the WW 2 radial tank engine housed inside one garage/barn like structure, where quite a few machine type items where housed, along with several very old cars, parts, pieces of things and more whatnots. Around 2pm, we said out grateful good-byes, with a promise to return again someday. I have to tell you folks who missed out, that you really missed a nice outing, hosted by real, down to earth people. There is something of interest here for everybody. Want
